Make it Work

I've been obsessed with Project Runway ever since it found it's way onto Lifetime, so I haven't been in love with it as long as some of it's die hard fans, but nonetheless, I still have a lot to say about this season.
(Can I just say that the song for the previews is intense. It reminds me of some sort of haunting Russian seamstress who is going to murder someone). Their challenge this week was to create an outfit out of party items, which Tim Gunn told them to try and not use any fabric that resembles fabric (Casanova apparently had a problem with that). Here is my opinion on some of the outfits:

Andy's outfit was probably my favorite, and I'm really happy he won this challenge. I thought his use of ribbons to create almost the whole outfit was amazing. It's very edgy, but at the same time the design is very classy, and I love how he used a balloon as a glove.

April's outfit was another one of my favorites. The style seems very Lady Gaga meets snow queen, which I love. I also really like the purse she used with it. It sort of brings it all together and makes it look more wearable.

Oh Casanova, where do I start with this one. First of all, I found it strange how he used plush puppies as some sort of scarf, which was kind of random...and scary. Second of all, it looks like she's wearing a disco dance floor as a dress, and I don't even understand what's going on with the ruffles in the back half of the dress. It has no relevance and there is just too much going on with this dress.

Okay, as much as I hate how big-headed Gretchen has become after her first two wins in a row, I can't deny that I like this dress. The only major problem I can find with this dress is the boots. They seem like they're too high, and from this photo the little flaps from them just make her body seem more wide to me and like they're slightly over sized. When I look at this outfit I sort of think of Ke$ha, but probably because of all the sparkle going on in the lower half.

As strange as Mundo can be, I love his design aesthetic; it's very young and flirty. I just wish he did a little more with this outfit. I can't quite point out what it is, but I feel like it's missing something. I really love the necklace he made for the accessories though.

I just needed to put this photo up because I love Peach. She's like the mother to all the designers. The competitive, stylish mother. Even her name is sweet. I don't understand how anyone could really hate this woman, unless she committed some mass murder.

I just have a few comments on Valerie's outfit. I love the napkin skirt, but what I've noticed with Valerie's designs is that she's a big fan of showing off the boobs. I mean I'm all for the side-boob revolution she seems to want to start, but some occasions don't call for a nipple-slip or a boob popping out (i.e. funerals, family reunions, children's music recitals, etc.). In the future I foresee Valerie using a nippit, or two, or maybe a whole outfit made entirely of nippits.
